Vadym Honcharenko, a student of the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, won gold medals in the shot put and discus throw at the international sports competition for veterans and service members, the Marine Corps and Air Force Trials 2026, in the United States. These are the first victories of our student-veteran, who represents Ukraine as part of the national team.
Vadym Honcharenko, call sign “Kinolog” (Dog Handler) — a war veteran who is now studying at KNUBA to become a coach in adaptive sports.
According to Vadym, sport and education helped him return to active civilian life: “The main thing is to find your niche in sport, in order to move, develop and keep living”.
Also, Vadym Honcharenko called on veterans to enroll in universities following his example, to study and learn new professions, for which the Veterans Institute was created, which supports veterans and their families around 11 universities of Ukraine, and for this purpose the veteran's portal was launched www.veterano.info .
The university community is proud of the student's achievements and continues to cheer for the success of Ukraine's national team at these competitions.
The Marine Corps and Air Force Trials are international adaptive competitions for service members and veterans. They take place annually in the USA and bring together participants from different countries around the world, becoming an important element of the international sports and rehabilitation movement for veterans.
